Job Advertisement: Carer/Sitter – Prewstwick

Wage rate £12.00 per hour

14 hours per week

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Carer/Sitter to provide support for a gentleman living with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia in Ayr. His wife, who is his main carer, requires additional support to ensure both his well-being and her own respite.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Provide morning personal care, including assistance with showering, dressing, and pad changes.
• Support with toileting needs throughout the day as required.
• Offer companionship and social interaction to reduce isolation.
• Provide respite care to allow his wife to attend appointments and social activities.
• Ensure a safe and comfortable environment, particularly given mobility challenges and fall risks.

Hours & Schedule:

• 7 hours per week for morning personal care.
• 7 hours per week for respite and socialisation support.

Requirements:

• Experience in dementia care is preferred.
• Patience, empathy, and a caring nature are essential.
• Ability to assist with personal care and mobility support.
• Must be reliable and trustworthy, providing reassurance for both the gentleman and his wife.

This role is vital in preventing carer burnout and ensuring both the gentleman and his wife receive the necessary support.

Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks.

Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition, a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).

Probationary Period attached is 6 months to this post. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
