  • £12 per hour, wages paid 4 weekly in arrears by bank transfer
  • Option to cover Annual Leave and sick cover for other worker
  • Preferably a car owner, with own transport and business use on car Ins
  • It is a non-smoking household, so preferably be a Non smoker
  • An understanding of Autism with a soft approach

To assist a young man age 33 who lives in Patna, he has Asperger’s syndrome therefore it is essential that you have an understanding of Autism / Aspergers.

He is looking for a Support worker that will understand his condition and be able to support him.

You will need to be patient and understanding, as he can get anxious at times which can lead to agitation, which then may lead to him being upset with the staff.

He can be quite forgetful and needs reassurance and support.

He requires support and assistance with everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning, washing etc as well as household shopping, paying bills. Assist to check mail when it comes in, support and remind to take medication at regular times. Encourage him to join in things socially to meet other people and the PA should come up with new ideas and discuss these options with him.

Be encouraging and supportive with everyday Independent living skills, but do not take over. It is the gentleman’s home and he is responsible for his health and hygiene, with encouragement, assistance and support from his workers.

He also enjoys going out for coffee, especially a Costa! Other hobbies are; going walks on the beach on dry days, swimming, hillwalking, ice-skating and skiing.  As you will  understand some of these are not always going to be available due to the Covid restrictions changing.

A little bit about him, that you should understand.  He is a very anxious person and this can affect his mental health.  He does not like crowds due to the noise levels, he is extremely hypersensitive to noise and tone.  Heavy traffic and even loud voices can be enough to hurt his ears.  He also has Hyper Osmia which means that he is sensitive to certain smells and odours.

Support needs:

He  has a job locally, at times when he knows that he is going to be working, he gets anxious the day before, please try gently to encourage him and distract him of the subject, maybe with going out or encourage to complete other tasks for that day.

He has another support worker who also works 7hrs per week and the weekly tasks will be shared between both staff.

Please note that this is a non-smoking household. Staff can have a cigarette break, but not in the gentleman’s home and should be limited.

Staff mobile phones should be on vibrate only, when on shift. Staff are NOT allowed to use their phones for personal use whilst working .

If when out with the gentleman, DO NOT rush him when he is having a coffee or lunch, if you are back late, then some tasks will not be done. This is his choice. If you rush him this will cause him to be anxious.

Please watch your manner with him, due to his Autism he may miss interpret this as being overly bossy.

Please be respectful of his neighbours, he lives in a flat and noise carries.

He has 2 pet budgies, he is responsible for them, but will need assistance to ensure the cage is kept clean.

As there is another worker paid through Self Directed Support, you may be asked to cover some extra hrs if they are off sick or on A/L

**** Please note that successful candidates will be required to undergo a New or update of the PVG disclosure scheme ( at the employers costs ) and supply 2 up to date reference contacts
