Personal Support Assistant (Cumnock Area) – Maternity cover

Currently looking for a keen individual to join our team to work within employer’s own home. Driving license essential.
As well as supporting employer in daily living tasks including personal care and household duties, you must have experience with dogs as employer has mini chihuahuas. Experience in care is desired but not essential as shadowing days/training will be given. Days/hours to be worked will be discussed with anyone interested in this post. A PVG Check will also be required to ensure your suitability to work with a protected adult.
Overview of Duties: As of June 25
The post includes 38 hours weekly (including weekends), times flexible between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Personal care includes ensuring medication given at the correct times, as well as ensuring employer’s personal hygiene and physical and mental well-being.
Part of the role is to help the employer with the dogs, this will include walking, feeding and caring for the dogs.
The employer occasionally requires overnight support in her own home. There are times when she is bed bound and completely reliant on support from workers for all her needs. This post requires someone who can if required remain awake overnight to support the employer and can be called on to cover shifts at 24 hours notice.
The post will also involve holiday and sick cover day support within the employer’s home and at different activities in the local area.

Duties include helping a wheelchair bound lady with personal care, daily household tasks, overnight support and social activities. driving her to various activities out with her home in her own wheelchair adapted van.
Previous experience preferred, but not essential as full training given.
Applicants must have a current driving license. Successful applicants will have to undergo a new or update for the PVG disclosure scheme, at the employers cost.
There is a six month probationary period attached to the post.
It would be highly beneficial for prospective employees to have:
Have experience of caring for someone who is unable to live independently.
Experience using a tracking hoist, although specific employer related training will be given
Experience of working with both manual and electric wheelchairs
Experience of driving a wheelchair adapted vehicle including securing wheelchair safely
Basic first aid and food hygiene
The employee must:
Have a clean, current driving license.
Be a competent driver
Have experience of looking after a dog.
Be flexible for working hours and be available for nightshifts at short notice.
The post is:
Rate of pay £12 per hour daytime
Days and hrs: Flexible. Further requirements to be discussed at interview
The assistance you provide to the employer will vary but will largely involve:
Providing support within her own home and at various activities within the community
Assisting to stay safe and well. This will involve helping her to monitor her mental and physical health and encourage her to take appropriate action to safeguard and maintain her health
Assisting with the choices she makes in her daily life, using a balanced approach which emphasizes advice and encouragement rather than making decisions for her.
This will involve assisting her to develop and maintain relationships by providing encouragement, guidance and support where needed.
Work with her to assist her with developing existing skills and to learn new skills
Assisting with domestic tasks such as shopping, cooking, and cleaning.
Assisting her to care for her horses and therapy dogs.
Treat her at all times, as an adult and unique individual, recognising her rights to choose, dignity, individuality, love, friendship and respect
To, at all times, talk respectfully to and about her, recognising that she has individual rights and she is your employer
Assist her to plan for the future and to solve problems that are worrying her
