To support a teenage boy who has Down’s syndrome and Autism. He is looking for a male support worker to be my buddy and support me at home in the mornings and with accessing local community services and activities and enjoy all the things other teenage boys my age like to do during the day, in the evening and at weekends. Needs adult support and supervision throughout the day to keep him safe and support his wellbeing and independence. He uses Makaton as a form of communication, experience of this would be an advantage.
This boy has a brilliant sense of humour and loves having fun and getting up to mischief. Anyone supporting him must also have a good sense of humour, like singing and dancing and not afraid to be silly. Jack needs someone who is also very calm and kind by nature as he can be very shy and easily upset and frustrated when people don’t know him well. They also need to be firm and confident to motivate and encourage him to do things he may not enjoy or want to do. Ideally, they can use Makaton sign and have experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities/autism.
Must be a male and have access to a car.
He need support with getting dressed, preparing food and eating & drinking, managing personal care, and taking my medication. To help me continue to develop independent skills with reading and writing and understanding time and money.
Support him with activities: all ability bikes, swimming and help him participate in other clubs and community groups.

Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition, a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).
