Job Advert- Personal Assistant/Male Support Worker
Location – Kilmaurs
Pay Rate £12.00 per hour plus 5.6 weeks AL Pro Rata
Hours: – 15-20 hours per week, flexibility available

To support a teenage boy who has Down’s syndrome and Autism. He needs adult support and supervision throughout the day to keep him safe and support his wellbeing and independence.

This boy has a brilliant sense of humour and loves having fun and getting up to mischief. Anyone supporting him must also have a good sense of humour, like singing and dancing and not afraid to be silly. Jack needs someone who is also very calm and kind by nature as he can be very shy and easily upset and frustrated when people don’t know him well. They also need to be firm and confident to motivate and encourage him to do things he may not enjoy or want to do. Ideally, they can use Makaton sign and have experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities/autism.

Must be a male and have access to a car.

School term-time/Mornings: 7:30-9:30am:

To support with getting dressed, making his breakfast, medications, washing his dishes, then washing face, brushing teeth, personal care & getting ready for school then doing some fine motor/writing/reading activities.

After-school: Support Jack to go to CenterStage Tuesday (4:45-5:30pm) & Thursday (5:15-6:00pm)

Support him to other after-school activities: all ability bikes, swimming and help him participate in other clubs and community groups.

Out of school/holiday times – support for him to access activities and community events/ trips out etc.

Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks.
Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition, a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).
Probationary Period attached is 6 months to this post. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
