Living wage rate – £12.00 per hour |
Job Purpose | To work closely and flexibly with a young man who is on the autistic spectrum to ensure he is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in his life and to continue to develop and follow his hobbies and interests.
To assist the young man with all aspects of personal hygiene. |
Employer | You will be employed by the family, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation. |

You will be responsible for supporting the gentleman to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by him / his family. Applicants would help to choose and prepare healthy meals. The young man would require assistance to maintain his fluid intake as it is a requirement of his medical condition.
Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the gentleman himself about the activities he wants to participate in at times and you are expected to support his choices. The successful applicant will be a good listener, patient, and compassionate. The young man enjoys a quiet, calm environment. The family are very flexible as to how many and when the hours are worked. We would prefer weekdays, daytime. This can be discussed and mutually agreed. Applicants must be car drivers, with own car, as the family’s home is not on a bus route. The young man enjoys accessing the local community but requires support to do so. The applicant would be required to use their own car to transport the young man. Mileage would be paid. You must have business use on your car Ins. The young man can become overwhelmed in busy environments so experience in being able to support him on these occasions would be advantageous. You may at times be required to provide companionship in his own home. The non-verbal young man enjoys getting out and about, going to supermarkets, going out for lunch, and train journeys. He requires full support around his personal hygiene, safety inside and outside the home and around spending his money. He enjoys time on his ipad watching you tube videos, DVDs and music. His health requires him to keep up a level of fitness and so he must get outside for a walk daily. The applicant would be required to encourage him to walk daily. Please note the successful applicant will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme. PVG will be paid by your employer. The employer would require 2 references one being your most recent employer. |
