P/T Female Support worker / Driver – 15hrs per week, Skares, Near Cumnock – EP/ EG 10/02/2025 personal employer Skares, East Ayrshire

Hours: 15 hours per week (Flexible ), this will be over 3 to 4 days per week.

Pay Rate £12.00 per hour, plus 5.6 weeks AL Pro Rata

Job Description

Are you a genuinely caring, outgoing person with the ability to be friendly and supportive?

We are looking for a personal assistant and companion for a friendly confident young woman who has a physical disability.  She particularly enjoys listening to Music, going to concerts, bowling, shopping, socialising with friends and eating out.

This post is to assist a young woman with Cerebral Palsy. She lives with and gets support from her family. You will support the Young Adult in her community to participate in activities of her choice and to encourage her independence.

It is important to recognise that the care and support you will assist with will involve going to the family home, therefore confidentiality and respect for the family’s privacy and daily routine is of the upmost importance.

You will be required to work on a flexible basis including some evenings and weekends, as well as assist whilst on short breaks away

You will be required to undertake Moving and Assisting Training and Epilepsy training for this post, if you don’t already have it. Training will be paid for by the employer.

You should have a positive, open minded, flexible and friendly personality

You are required to drive the person’s vehicle, which is a Manual People carrier, adapted for a wheelchair.  You will need a clean driving licence and your own car due to location ( 2.5 miles outside Cumnock ).

Assistance with accessing and arranging Social activities, attending appointments, and assistance with personal care, as well as aiding with the Stand Aid

Post subject to 2 successful reference and PVG checks.

Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).

Probationary Period is 6 months. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
