Pay Rate £12.00 per hour plus 5.6 weeks AL Pro Rata
Job Description
Are you a genuinely caring, reliable, outgoing person with the ability to be friendly and supportive?
This post is for a personal assistant and companion to work closely with a confident, friendly woman in her fifties. She is diabetic and a double amputee, she mobilises with the use of a wheelchair and she is partially sighted.
The support will be mainly at her home but occasionally in the community, helping to improve her sense of well-being. You will liaise closely with her family to identify her needs.
Your role is to provide support socially, with personal care, preparing lunch and all activities daily living as required.
The person’s enjoys being read to, going for drive, listening to music, going for a coffee, lunch etc. and shopping…

Job Description
You will volunteer to help the person out with things she finds difficult due to her disability.
You will be active and encourage the person to maintain his physical fitness.
You will treat the person as you would anyone else with dignity and respect.
You will support the person to get out of the house, maintain and develop hobbies and interests of her choosing.
You will listen to the person.
You will adapt what you do as required, and be aware of any worsening symptoms, reporting any concerns.
You will always be patient and kind.
Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and maintain good standards of cleanliness.
It is important to recognise that the care and support you will assist with be given within the family home, therefore confidentiality and respect for the family’s privacy and daily routine is of the upmost importance.
You will be required to work on a flexible basis including evenings and weekends.
You should have a positive, open minded, flexible and friendly personality
Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks.
Education and Qualifications
SVQ/ NVQ level two or equivalent in social care is desirable
Certificate in Moving and assisting people is essential. The employer will provide this training if you don’t have this in place. It is your duty to attend the organised training session with a training provider.

Two up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).

Probationary Period attached a 6 months to this post. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
