Title: Companion / Support Worker/ Driver

Hours of Work: 6 hours a week  3 x  2 hour shifts during  week days .

Salary: – £13.07 per hour plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave pro rata.

Experience of working with people who have memory issues  is desirable

This post is to support an older frail lady socially. She enjoys going for a run in the car and sitting is the garden in the summer.

Her family  work during the day, so support is to ensure that someone checks she is safe, has had something eat and drink  and has some company and social interaction.

The lady needs prompted to go to the bathroom and shown where it is located.

You should  have access to a reliable car and to ensure that you have up to date business insurance and  MOT if applicable for your vehicle.

Skills required

A genuinely caring person with the ability to be friendly and persuasive when necessary

A calm and patient person who will not become easily flustered or impatient

The ability to react to the varying moods of the client in an appropriate way at all times

Able to use own initiative whilst being aware of the client’s vulnerability

Strong awareness of respect and dignity for the client and ensuring this always occurs

Excellent communication skills with the client and her family

Previous experience in a caring role would be advantageous

Ability to prepare light  meals and snacks.

“Getting on well” with the lady is essential

Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks. T wo up to date Reference contacts are required one of which must be from a present or previous employer. In addition a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer).
